It is a given at weddings that the mother-of-the-bride will cry, everyone will want their photo taken with the new couple and the bride is always the most beautiful woman in the room.
Here are some tips from Shayna Martini, manager at The Spa at The Peak Health and Wellness Center and Sharla Bryant, counter manager for Clinique at Dilliards, for looking your best during the ceremony and long after:
- Make sure you are getting plenty of rest.
- Don't forget to drink water. Hydration is a key factor for healthy skin.
- If the bride or groom is experiencing any complexion issues, make an appointment with a licensed esthetician or dermatologist 1-3 months prior to the event to help clear those up.
A professional beauty consultation will add that glamorous touch, whether you are going for a natural or a bold look.
- Set up a consultation 2-3 weeks prior to the event. Not only will a consultant help pick out the proper colors for your look, they will teach you how to apply it.
- If you are tanning: go back for another consultation 1-2 days before the event to make sure the color choices still work.
- Apply more than the usual amount of makeup so you don't look washed out in your photos.
If you are going to have your makeup professionally applied the day of the wedding, plan on making your appointment 1-2 hours before you are due to start. Your make up will be the last thing you do before putting on your wedding clothes.
- Wear a button-up shirt to your appointment.
- To avoid needing your make up retouched, have your hair done first.
Make sure your color choices are correct, go outside and view yourself in the natural light.
